Type 23 frigates are type 1 frigates serving in the Royal Navy. All of the ships are named after the Duke of England, so they are also known as dukes. Of the Royal Navy's active ships, the largest number of surface warships were 16 Type 23 frigates, the last of which, the USS St Albans, entered service in November 2001. Type 23 frigates are equipped with very strong weapons, with anti-submarine, anti-aircraft, ship-to-ship, three-dimensional attack and defense capabilities, especially anti-submarine capabilities are very prominent. The duke-class frigate is the world's first frigate equipped with a vertical missile launcher.
