The Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR R/C car kit initially appeared in the 1998 Tamiya product catalog, featuring the popular TA-03R chassis platform and later transitioning to the easily assembled TT-01E platform. Now, the CLK-GTR makes a comeback on the high-performance TC-01 chassis platform, offering enhanced performance by leveraging the sleek body profile of the Mercedes and the low center of gravity inherent in the TC-01.

The TC-01 chassis boasts a seriously low-profile design, featuring a robust composite monocoque-frame chassis that facilitates shaft-driven 4WD through front and rear propeller shafts connected to a central motor. This setup includes oil-filled gear differentials. The 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension incorporates long A-shaped arms, coupled with inboard setups at the front and rear equipped with oil shock-dampers activated by push rods and rocker arms. This configuration allows for the utilization of low-profile bodies.

For added convenience, the suspension arms and uprights are identical on both the left and right sides, as well as the front and rear, streamlining maintenance and pit work. The chassis also allows for easy adjustment of camber, skid, and toe angle settings using spacers.
